Welcome to the very first Japanese World Academy Blog!
Last month, JWA celebrated its 2nd Anniversary, and I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you so much for all of your support over the past 2 years. It truly means a lot to me, and I'm so grateful to have you as part of the JWA community. β€οΈ
If you don't know me well yet, here's a little bit about me. π
I was born and raised in Akita, Japan, and currently live in Toronto, Canada. Believe it or not, my full-time job is actually a flight attendant! βοΈ So if you ever look up at the sky and see an airplane flying by, think of me. π

My Japanese teaching journey started during COVID when I decided to start a YouTube channel. At the time, I simply wanted to practice public speaking. I never imagined it would eventually lead me to starting my online Japanese school, Japanese World Academy (JWA). Before I knew it, people from all over the world were reaching out for private Japanese lessons, and our little community just kept growing.
2 years ago, I officially launched Japanese World Academy, and since then I've taught over 40 live Japanese lessons and have had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful students from around the world. Getting to know my students has truly been one of the greatest joys of this journey! Many of my students have become friends, and I feel so lucky that our paths have crossed.βΊοΈ
I hope this Blog becomes something you enjoy reading, a place where I can share Japanese language, culture, travel, stories, and updates with you! π―π΅
NEW ON JWA π
Did you know JWA has started an interview series?
Our newest interview features one of JWA's founding students, Ben! Ben is the head writer of the Apple TV+ animated series Goldie, and in our interview he shares how learning Japanese has influenced his life, his creativity, and his writing.
π¬ Watch Ben's short interview here:

My very first interview was with the one and only Grammy-winning trumpeter Chris Botti. Chris has been a long-time friend of mine, and we had a wonderful conversation about Japan, Tokyo, omakase, music, and why Japan is one of his favourite places in the world.

LET'S STAY CONNECTED! π±
I also post behind-the-scenes updates and lots of Japan-related content on my YouTube Community page, so be sure to check it out while you're there!
I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! β€οΈ
Where did you find me?
Have you ever been to Japan?
What would you like to learn next?

Thank you again for being part of the JWA community. I'm looking forward to sharing this Japanese learning journey with you.
